AI Tools Video Test

DESCRIPTION

The personal goal for this project was to discover the potential of new AI tools and how these can help in the post-production process of multimedia content.

Using the NeverNude scene of the critically aclaimed show Arrested Development as a starting point, the idea was to feed the video through EbSynth and see what the video would look like had it been done in a different style.

I'll never understand? That you can never be nude? I understand more than you'll....never know! Season 1, Episode 7 "In God We Trust" Lucille turns Michael and Lindsay against each other; George-Michael impresses Maeby with a manly costume he dons for a charity event; Buster's affair with Lucille 2 (guest star Liza Minnelli) causes him to pull away from his mother. It is presented in a serialized format, incorporating handheld camera work, voice-over narration, archival photos, and historical footage. The show maintains numerous running gags and catchphrases. Ron Howard serves as both an executive producer and the omniscient narrator and, in later seasons, appears in the show portraying a fictionalized version of himself. The series received critical acclaim, six Primetime Emmy Awards, and one Golden Globe Award, and attracted a cult following. It has been named one of the greatest TV shows of all time by publications including Time, Entertainment Weekly, and IGN. It influenced later single-camera comedy series such as 30 Rock and Community. 🖼️ PNG Sequence export

The process starts by exporting a PNG sequence of the scene in Premiere Pro.

Then, each shot is separated into folders for an easier workflow. 📁

🔑 Keyframes

EbSynth takes the style of a painted frame and translates it into the rest of the shot.

The AI needs a key frame that is traced or restyled. The more motion there is in the shot / the more key frames might be needed.

For this instance, I chose to style my key frame in a comic style in Photoshop. I left a green background for an easier post-processing in Premiere later down the road.

⏩ AI Process

Once the AI has processed the original PNGs together with the keyframes, there might be something usable in the video out folder. Or not.

In this case I did not need to use more keyframes, but I was not as lucky with other shots.
